About the Artists & Speakers

Tom Palmer is the author of 57 books for children, mostly about sport or history. His history books have been nominated for four Carnegie Medals over the last five years and focus on the events of WW1 and WW2 from the point of view of children or young people.

In his session Tom will talk about After the War, the story of 300 Jewish children who survived the Holocaust and came to the UK as refugees in 1945. After the War is based entirely on the testimony of those who experienced the events. Tom will speak about how he uses deep research to tell stories of the past that are as relevant today as they were 80 years ago.
