About the Artists & Speakers

Annemarie Anang is an actress, musician and former primary school teacher. Her debut book I AM NEFERTITI has been shortlisted for The Little Rebels Awards 2023, Leeds Book Award 2023 and Teach Early Years Awards 2023. Annemarie began writing for children after struggling to find books for her daughter that featured main characters who reflected the diversity of children in our world. She also campaigns for better mental health and well-being in early years. A Londoner, born to Ghanaian parents, she now lives in Sweden with her young daughter and husband.

Natelle Quek is a Malaysian-born children’s book illustrator who grew up in New Zealand, and now calls the UK home. In a previous life, Natelle worked as a biochemistry technician, but finally gave up her lab coat in 2018 to pursue art and illustration. She now works with a growing list of clients and has illustrated several picture books and young fiction books. Natelle loves to use bold colours and cinematic perspectives to draw readers into her worlds. Natelle currently lives in leafy, historic Kent with her husband and their rescue cat. In her free time, Natelle loves to tend to her garden, and explore nature trails with her husband.
