About the Artists & Speakers

Margaret is a prize-winning author and a storyteller. Having grown up in Blackpool, studied English and Drama at Hull University, she now lives in Brixton, South London, one of the crossroads of the world and an ideal place from which to journey into the world of story.

Her picture books include the prizewinning Masha and the Firebird (English 4-11 Award and the NAPPA gold medal (USA) Shota and Star Quilt.

First Flight from her Dragon Racer trilogy was long listed for the Brilliant Book Award.  Her books have been translated into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Dutch, Danish, Korean and Polish.

As a storyteller, Margaret from Brixton to Beijing in schools, libraries and museums including Buckingham Palace, the V&A, the British Museum, and the Foundling Museum.
