About the Artists & Speakers
Lucy grew up on a farm in Somerset where she fostered her love of all things wild roaming free in the great outdoors. This fascination with nature led her to study two great noticers of nature, Thomas Hardy and G.M. Hopkins, for her PhD in poetry at Oxford University. Lucy is a children’s author; co-deliverer of the Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Fest; and in 2017, Lucy co-founded independent publishing house, Doodles & Scribbles, with illustrator partner, Jenna Herman. Together they have published three beautiful children's picture books, Parrots Don't Live in the City!, Hedgehogs Don't Live in the City! and We Are Family, which have been warmly praised for their empathy, thoughtfulness and inclusivity. Lucy loves teaching children and grown ups from all walks of life.
